 Mission
In accordance with The University's Mission Statement, the Office of Admissions strives to facilitate all phases of the admissions process for students who are interested in pursuing their education at the Baccalaureate level.

The office is committed to providing both effective and efficient service to applicants and to ensuring that their admission experience is a positive one.

This mission will be accomplished by using trained personnel and the most advanced technology available.

The major goals within this mission are:

  1. To accurately receive, interpret and maintain documents submitted in support of applications for admission;
  2. To determine as rapidly as possible eligibility for admission to The University of Memphis at the undergraduate level;
  3. To maintain the integrity of the database through both accurate input and a comprehensive editing system.
In an integrated environment, data integrity is a vital component. The Office of Admissions protects the confidentiality of applicant records, paper and electronic, while keeping them accessible, as appropriate. It is the specific responsibility of the Office of Admissions to ensure the accuracy of initial identifying information for applicants within the University's electronic record keeping system. Accuracy of data contributes to accurate reporting and ensures that the database is a reliable indicator and predictor of admission trends

The Office of Admissions staff is committed to providing a professional environment supporting "in-person" student contact services and to treating all its constituents with courtesy, respect and dignity. Admission decisions are made with diligence, with adherence to The U of M admission criteria, within the diversity goals of a comprehensive urban university and with particular regard for equal educational opportunity.
